Labiaplasty is a procedure that helps to improve function and appearance of the labia.
Who is suitable?
Female patients who have concerns about the appearance or function of their labia are suitable for surgery. The main areas of complaint are classified as: discomfort with sports or clothing, labial entrapment with sexual intercourse, perceived enlarged or asymmetrical labia, genital changes due to child bearing or as a result of obstetric injury.
What does the operation involve?
Labiaplasty is the most commonly performed genital cosmetic procedure. Labiaplasty in essence refers to any procedure performed to improve the appearance of the labia. This may include reduction of labia minora or majora (inner and outer ‘lips’ of the vaginal opening), as well as augmentation with fat transfers to address age related atrophy (flattening and sagging of the labia majora). The reduction involves removing a segment of the labia.
How long do the results last?
The benefits of labial reduction can last a life time.
What are the risks?
As with any cosmetic surgery, there are some risks associated with the surgery. Complications include minor wound infection, wound dehiscence and vaginal bleeding. Mr Saour will discuss the potential risks during your consultation.
